- At SightSERA (Sight Shakir Eye Research Accelerator), we are redefining the future of ophthalmic research by bridging scientific innovation with patient care. As an advanced clinical trial site, we specialize in conducting and successfully completing Phase 2, 3, and 4 clinical trials for a broad range of eye diseases, including dry and wet macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, rare retinal diseases, cataracts, intraocular lens implants, dry eye, and glaucoma. Our patients gain early access to cutting-edge treatments before they are widely available, ensuring they receive the most advanced care possible.
- What sets SightSERA apart is our fully owned and operated on-site surgical facility, which allows us to integrate clinical trials with real-world ophthalmic procedures. Our Principal Investigator, a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon from Yale University, has been deeply involved in research and continues to serve as an active clinical instructor. Alongside him, our sub-investigators are Ivy League-trained ophthalmic surgeons, dedicated to pioneering new advancements in vision care.

Our large referral network of optometrists, community doctors, and medical clinics ensures that we reach the patients who need access to these treatments the most. Our Clinical Research Director, Meaghan Shakir, is an enthusiastic and motivated professional with extensive experience in managing, administering, and streamlining clinical trials, earning a stellar reputation with leading Clinical Research Organizations (CROs).
